Lesley Weiner Sets Up Bequest to Assist Future WP Financial Planning Scholars

Lesley E. Weiner MEd ’82 CFP® knows a good investment when she sees it, including the value of a William Paterson education, which is why she has established a bequest in her will to help future students achieve their dreams.

After teaching high school mathematics, Lesley began a long and successful career as a financial representative in 1982. Through her bequest, she hopes to encourage other women to enter what has been a historically male-dominated field.

Her gift will establish the Lesley E. Weiner CFP® Endowed Memorial Scholarship to support full-time undergraduate WP students majoring in financial planning who maintain a strong GPA and demonstrate financial need.

Since graduating, Lesley has remained active with WP—including serving as an adjunct instructor and as part of the Cotsakos College of Business Advisory and Advancement Council. She has also served as a mentor and hires WP student interns.

A first-generation college student, Lesley knows how life-changing a scholarship can be. She encourages her fellow alumni to join her in creating a planned gift to WP.

“Scholarship support will have a big impact on a student’s future,” she says. “If they succeed professionally, they will have the opportunity to pay it forward for future scholarship gifting. The impact is so much greater than the sum awarded. The impact of gifting is life-changing for WP students.”
